Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Edward Delaney can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Edward J. "Cookie" Delaney

Edward J. "Cookie"  Delaney
Edward (Cookie) Delaney, age 70, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
He was born in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Edward and Genevieve Delaney. He was also predeceased by his brother George Delaney. He leaves his loving and dedicated wife of 32 years Michelle (Palma) Delaney; his children Debra Grady and her husband David of Massachusetts; Dori Delaney and her husband Bill Bernier of Virginia; Carrie Papazian and her husband Dave of Massachusetts. He took great pride and joy in his three granddaughters Julia Grady, Ella Bernier and Sophie Papazian. He followed in his father’s footsteps as a second generation Firefighter. He gave 28 years of dedicated service to the Hartford Fire Department, retiring in 1994. He was a Member of the Firemen’s Benevolent Society, The Hartford Fire Emerald Society, served as President of the Police & Firemens Association 1980-1982, served for six years as the Employee Representative on the City of Hartford Personnel Board for I.A.F.F. Local 760 and as a member of the Union Negotiating Team. He fulfilled his dream of spending some retirement years in SC where he enjoyed golf, had an active social life and traveled extensively with his wife. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, 9/27/2014 from 9-11 a.m. at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT. He will then be taken to his final resting place in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
