Obituary for Dorathea L Sullivan (Howe)

Dorathea (Howe) L. Sullivan, 94, Enfield formerly of East Hartford, wife of the late John C. Sullivan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Chester and Ida Mae (Ellsworth) Howe, she lived in the Hartford/East Hartford area most of her life. Dorathea worked for the Hartford Police Department and prior to her retirement with her sons at Envelopes & More Inc. She also volunteered at the polls in East Hartford for many years and was active with the “Tuesday’s Crafters” in Avon. Dorathea was a member of The Irish American Home in Glastonbury and a Deputy Marshal in the 2000 St. Patrick’s Day parade in Hartford.
She leaves her two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Carol Sullivan of Delaware and Timothy and Judy Sullivan of Enfield, her grandchildren, Michael Sullivan of Tolland, Christin Anzalotti and her husband Michael of Chicago, Sean Sullivan and his wife Gisele of Waterbury, Kimberly Sullivan Torres and her husband Michael of Ellington and Megan Sullivan of Enfield, as well as her three great granddaughters, Kalagena Sullivan Torres, Layliana Torres, and Anaiyah Sullivan. She is also survived by her two brothers, Gordon “Bob” Howe of Maine and Ralph Howe of Farmington. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorathea was predeceased by her son, Gordon, four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
