Willie Lagies Martin, 89, of East Hartford, passed away March 17, 2022 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the eleventh of twelve children, born in Jenkinsville, SC on June 27, 1932, son of the late Abraham and Mary (Davis) Martin, Sr. Upon his completion of his education, Willie served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. When discharged from his military tour of duty, he moved to Hartford, CT where he lived with his sister Theodora and her husband, Eugene Davis. Later he resided with his brother Lindsay and his wife, Minnie Martin, in Windsor. During his career, Willie worked in manufacturing, spending many years employed by Vulcan Rubber. Willie was a quiet, kind, and gentile man. He greeted everyone with a smile. He had a great sense of humor and absolutely loved the Red Sox.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, a loving niece, Barbara Christian of Baltimore, MD and his sister-in-law, Minnie Martin of Windsor. He was predeceased by his older sister, Edna Martin-Christian.
