William (Bill) Szozda of Glastonbury, died on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Bloomfield, on February 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Martin and Mary (Guzy) Szozda. He grew up in Bloomfield, before moving to Glastonbury with his wife, Anna (Kristof). He retired from Arrow-Hart and Hegeman Electric Co, after many years of service. Born into a farming family, he spent countless hours gardening, raising vegetables and flowers, especially gladiolas. He was known as the “Flower Man” of Griswold St. for over a quarter of a century. He was predeceased by his wife, his older brother Joseph and older sister Helen Moore. He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Bala of Bloomfield, and Louise Knauer of Millington, N.J. and several nephews and nieces. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 29, 2008 at 9:15am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave, Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Interment will follow in Mount. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. Friends and relatives may call on the family, Thursday, August 28, 2008, between 6-8pm at the Funeral home.
