Obituary for Walter E. Olender

Walter E. Olender, 80, husband of the late Rosemarie (Fanelli) Olender of Wethersfield, passed away Monday October 6, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Michael and Mary (Stepas) Olender and lived in the area all of his life. Walter received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bryant University and started as an accountant for the Hartford National Bank, went on to work for the Office of the State Comptroller as the statewide Telecommunications Director and later as the statewide Director of Special Services. Walter was a member of the SS Cyril & Methodius Church Men’s Club, the Polish University Club and the Polish National Home. He was also an usher at Corpus Christi Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. Walter is survived by two daughters, Patricia Pogmore of Chaplin and Lisa Anderson and her husband Scot of Wethersfield and two grandchildren, Eric and Emily Rose Anderson. He was predeceased by his two sisters Genevieve (Olender) Bonfiglio and Stephanie Olender. Friends may call from 4-7 pm, Thursday October 9, 2014 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. The funeral will be held Friday October 10, 2014 at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield.
