Valer J. Wnuk, 96, beloved husband to Eileen (Craft) Wnuk, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Harrisville, Rhode Island to the late Louis and Magdalina (Bacinsky) Wnuk. Valer grew up in Rockville, CT and after graduating high school enlisted in the Army Air Force 8th Division and became a Technical Sergeant and Mechanical Gunner during World War II. After returning home, Valer married the love of his life, Eileen Craft on May 10, 1947 and just recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. He was incredibly artistic and good at working with his hands, in 1952 he built his own home on Hebron Avenue. Aside from his job as a toolmaker at United Technologies, Valer was very proud of his other jobs which included being a clock repairman and his own hand engraving business. Jewelry companies from all over would call upon Valer to engrave their jewelry for them. He was a very caring husband and father who loved his family tremendously and cherished his time with them, especially at family functions and gatherings but particularly enjoyed spending time boating and fishing with his children when they were young. He was an incredible gardener, who grew all of his own fruits and vegetables. In his later years Valer, picked up golf and played until he was physically unable to do so anymore.
Besides his wife Eileen, Valer leaves behind his children, David Wnuk and his former spouse, Marilyn, Gail Brundag and her husband Bob as well as, Valerie Bonee and her husband Phillip; his grandchildren, Jessica Wnuk and her husband Jay, Richard Brundag and his wife Jinn, James Brundag and his wife Lauren, Jonathan Brundag, Susan Bonee, Melissa Brady and her husband Francis; his great-grandchildren, Chase Brundag, Wyatt Brundag, Nora Brundag and Daisy Brundag. Valer is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Franny Craft.
At this time, funeral services will be private. In In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Valer’s name to Food Share, 450 Woodland Avenue Bloomfield, CT 06002.
