Obituary for Sheila Folan (Sheridan)

Sheila (Sheridan) Folan, 86, passed away on March 9, 2023. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, to James and Delia Sheridan, she traveled across the Atlantic by boat to join her sister, aunts and cousin in the United States in 1956. Sheila married Tom in 1965 and became a lifelong resident of Hartford, CT where she spent her entire career working in the business office of St. Francis Hospital. Though Sheila made her home in Hartford, Ireland was always “home.” She was an active member of the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury, CT where she had many friends, and where she and Tom made many fond memories. In 2019 Sheila and Tom moved to the Stonebrook Village retirement community in Windsor Locks, CT. After Tom’s passing in 2020, Sheila became a beloved member of the Egis Memory Care community at Stonebrook Village. Everyone who knew Sheila loved her and described her as a very sweet lady. Sheila was quiet, unassuming, and so very kind. When Sheila found something funny, she belly laughed like no other. In addition to her husband, Sheila was predeceased by her two brothers and their wives, Paddy (Betty) Sheridan, and Jimmy (Mary) Sheridan, as well as her brother-in-law Tom McDonough. Sheila will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Kathleen (Larry) Murphy, of Surrey, England, and Mary McDonough of Windsor Locks, CT. We are grateful that Sheila felt Mary’s loving presence until the very end. Sheila also leaves her cousin and lifelong friend Ronnie (Howard) Klukas of Manchester, CT and many nieces and nephews in the US, Ireland, and England. We would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at Stonebrook Village and St. Francis Hospital for taking such good care of Sheila. Friends may gather at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield, CT on Thursday, March 16 from 10:30- 11:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
