Robert F. Reilly, 93, of Wethersfield, husband of the late Jane (Gravel) Reilly, passed away February 5, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He passed just three days after his devoted wife. Robert was born in Hartford, CT son of the late John “Joseph” and Lavina (Gaudet) Reilly on March 2, 1927. He was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford and achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Bryant University. Robert was an accountant at Spencer Turbine for 39 years. Robert was a World War II veteran and joined the Navy when he was 17 years old. He served in Okinawa. Robert was also a history buff and enjoyed reading anything about World War I & II. Robert was one of 11 children. The Reilly’s were huge sports enthusiasts and were known to be very competitive. Robert also played tennis and bowled for many years. Robert was an avid gardener and grew dahlias for over 30 years. He was a member of the dahlia society and a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Church Men’s Club.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, James F. Reilly and his wife Jennifer of Wethersfield, Charles Reilly of Wethersfield, Noreen Reilly of Wethersfield, and Christine Reilly of Newington. Robert will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren PJ, Sophie, and Carolyn Reilly. He also leaves behind two sisters Joan Compson and Mary Ellen Fortier and her husband Roger, and sisters in-law Mary Reilly and Eleanore Reilly. He is predeceased by his other brothers and sisters: John Reilly, Beverly Strout, Donald Reilly, Peg Reilly, Joe Reilly, Richard Reilly, Gene Reilly, Liz Stocinis; as well as a numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to all of Robert’s wonderful caregivers.
Family and friends may pay their respect on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Robert and Jane’s lives will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Church of Saint Josephine Bahkita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
