Obituary for Rita "Marie" Garre (LaPrade)

Rita “Marie” Garre, 87 of Wethersfield, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. Rita was born on March 9, 1928, in St. Eugene, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Willie & Jeanne LaPrade. Rita came to the United States with her husband Robert Garre and settled in Wethersfield. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2015. Rita retired from Pratt & Whitney in the summer of 1989. She took great pride in her work and received many awards for her accomplishments and contributions to Pratt & Whitney. Rita then moved to Florida with her husband Robert to enjoy their years of retirement together. She resided in Florida for 15 years until her diagnosis. Rita then moved back to Wethersfield with Robert to be close to her children & grandchildren. Rita was also a devoted catholic, with religion being a large part of her life. Rita was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her personality was like no other and everywhere she went she carried a beautiful smile. Rita is survived by her devoted husband Robert “Bob” Garre; daughter Marie “Carmen” Branciforte and her husband Glen.; son Robert Garre Jr.; daughter Diane DiBattista; granddaughters, Christine M. Gorski, Michelle DeMello, Katie McCue; grandsons, Paul DiBattista, Robert Garre III and his wife Christina, Thomas McCue; great grandchildren Morgaynn & Madison Gorski, Brayden Camilleri, Brynn McCue. The family would like to thank the Staff at the Helen & Harry Gray Center in Wethersfield as well as Autumn Lake Healthcare in Cromwell for their exceptional love and care. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Rita’s life will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Donations may be made to Corpus Christi Church, 84 Somerset Street, Wethersfield, CT 06109 where she and husband Robert would attend every week.
