Obituary for Richard F. Wolfer

Richard “Richie, Roo” Wolfer, 55 of Cromwell and formerly of Wethersfield, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born on November 3, 1965 to the late Edwin C. Wolfer and Irene (Kazukauskas) Wolfer. Richard was engaged this past Christmas and leaves behind his fiancé, Wendy Young of Cromwell. Richie is also survived by his loving and amazing children Rachel Irene Wolfer of Wethersfield and Ryan Richard Wolfer of Berlin and a special niece, Gianna D’Amigo of Wethersfield as well as several nieces and nephews. Richie also leaves to grieve his brother, Edwin C. Wolfer III (fiancé Elizabeth) of Lebanon, his sisters, Karen L. Wolfer of Lebanon, Theresa A. D’Amigo of Chicopee, MA, and Cheryl Forgepta-Kazanji of Newington. Richie had many longtime friends. He was especially close with Theresa Parsons, Irene Ident, Edward and Jane Thomson and Dawn Faraci.

Richie graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1984. After graduating he started his career as a machinist at Kell-Strom Tool Co. He was currently employed at Connecticut Shot Gun in New Britain at the time of his passing. Richie enjoyed playing hockey and belonged to many men’s softball leagues over the years. He enjoyed hunting and golfing with his friends and especially his son, Ryan. He was a big Red Sox and Bruins fan. Richie was able to fulfill his dream of owning a Dodge Challenger at the end of his life.

Friends and family of Richie may pay their respects on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Oncology Department of St. Francis Hospital. Their kindness during this difficult time was comforting.
