Obituary for Rebecca Barber

Rebecca Barber, of Fairfield, CT, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, friend passed away unexpectedly February 21, 2023. She was 51 years old. She is predeceased by her father Clifford Barber and survived by her husband of nearly 15 years, Jonathan McMenamin-Balano, her mother Judith Barber (née Bridge), her brother Edwin Barber and his children Jamie and Ryan Barber, her twin sister Julianna Eckmann (née Barber), and her husband Michael Eckmann and their daughter Meghan Eckmann, as well as her in-laws and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Originally from Greenwich, CT, Becky grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated high school in Chelmsford, MA. She was a graduate of the University of Connecticut where she majored in political science and participated in campus-sponsored activities including SUBOG and ooze ball. Rebecca was also a certificate recipient from Cornell University in marketing strategy for business leaders. She had a long and illustrious career as a leader in marketing and operations with various organizations within the information services industry including Vortecs, Gartner, Sirius Decisions, Forrester and IANS.

Rebecca was an amazingly kind, compassionate and beautiful soul; always thoughtful of others with a smile that lit up the room. She treasured time with her family and friends tremendously. Whether beaching it on Cape Cod, exploring the Pacific Northwest, rock climbing locally and abroad, or taking road trips to see local attractions, she enjoyed it all. Nantucket, Nashville’s Johnny Cash Museum and the Grand Canyon were special shared trips. She had just begun planning for her next set of adventures.

She always loved a good laugh and was passionate about exercise, nature and the outdoors, her feline friends, current events, interesting reads and continuous learning. Her participation in Outward Bound North Carolina preceded her volunteer work with SheClimbs; both of which gave her many shared memories. A supporter of Special Olympics, the Alzheimer's Association and cancer research, she strived to help make a difference in the lives of others.

There will be a celebration of life service March 18 at Farley–Sullivan Funeral home at 50 Naubuc Ave, beginning at 11 a.m. in Glastonbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to an organization she supported.
