Obituary for Phelime Cote (Chasse)

Phelime (Chasse) Cote, born on February 10, 1933 to Paul and Rose Chasse in St. David, Maine. Phelime married Valere Cote and moved to Hartford, CT having six kids. Mom was a very crafty person, sewing all our clothes as kids and later in life crocheting blankets, hats and slippers for the whole family and friends. Mom worked for the City of Hartford as a School Guard for 25 years and also at MediMart/Walgreens for another 25 years. Mom was always telling us funny stories that would make us laugh for days. Mom aka Gram always had a zest for life.
Mom leaves two very devoted daughters, Anne Tetreault of Plainville, Renee (Michael) Morales of Wethersfield, a son-in-law, Bill Kennedy, her sisters, Agathe (Roger) St. Amant, Geraldine (Tony) Zimmitti, Noella Paradise, Linda Pelletier, her brother, Gerard (Pauline) Chasse. Phelime also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stephen Gomes, Summer Gomes, Jason Gomes, Peter (Vicky) Tetreault, Richie (Jaime) Cote, Melissa (CJ) Keller, Maranda (Jeff) Cote, Megan (Rob) Kennedy, Mike (Dianna) Morales, Brandon (Jessica) Morales, Alana Morales. And her godchild, Debbie Jeanette. Phelime also leaves many great and great-great grandchildren, niece and nephews who adored her as she adored them. She was predeceased by her husband, Valere Cote, sons, George Cote and Richard J. Cote, her daughters Charlene Gomes and Linda Kennedy, her grandson Richard M. Cote and sisters, Blanch Fournier, Anita Martin and Jackie Dionne.
We will always be grateful to Hartford Hospital and Dr. Underhill for doing a triple bypass on mom ten years ago, giving her a bonus ten years with us. We want to thank Hartford Hospital, again, for treating us with such kindness and compassion in her final days. The nurses, doctors and hospice staff on the 12th floor will never be forgotten. Thank you to her home aide, Vicky, for pampering her when she wasn’t feeling well. For the short stay she had at Avery Heights, thank you to the nurses and aides who treated mom with kindness.
Friends and family may call on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield. A service will be held in the funeral home at 11:00AM.
