Obituary for Patricia A. Tyler (Koch)

Patricia Ann (Koch) Tyler, 87, wife of James Tyler of Westbrook, passed away January 16, 2021. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Oliver and Ellen (Ryan) Koch. Patty retired from the Town of Bloomfield where she worked as a police dispatcher and receptionist. Never one to relax for long, shortly after her retirement, Patty returned to work as a receptionist at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook. Patty loved the beach, and cherished the memories made during the many summers spent with family and friends at Old Lyme Shores. She enjoyed needlework of all kinds and her needlepoint Christmas stockings are now family heirlooms. Patty also enjoyed the challenge of a difficult puzzle, the more pieces and the more intricate design the better. Most of all Patty loved her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patty will be remembered as a kind, warm and welcoming person with an easy laugh and a smile that lit up the room.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, Patty leaves her children, Ron Tyler and his wife Ellen of Abbot, ME and Old Lyme, Irene Corsino and her husband Nunzio of Old Lyme, and Mark Tyler and his wife Sheri of North Granby, her grandchildren, Amanda Meier and her husband Matthew, Christopher Bourne and his wife Julia, James Tyler and his wife Lesley, Elizabeth Eagan and her husband Michael, Daniel Tyler, Robert Tyler, and Grace Tyler, 10 great-grandchildren and a special niece, Bonnie Pisati.
Patty’s family would like to thank the staff at Gladeview for their care and compassion over the past two years.
There will be a private memorial service and burial. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. To extend condolences, please visit Farleysullivan.com.
