Obituary for Nicholas Rago

Nicholas Francis Rago III of South Glastonbury, beloved husband of Carol (Reddy) Rago, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on August 19, 1953, he was the second of seven children born to the late Nicholas and Helen (Fitzgerald) Rago. A graduate of Rocky Hill High School, he proudly served as Class Treasurer all four years and lettered in baseball (captain) and basketball. He graduated from the College of Holy Cross with a B.A. in economics and earned an M.B.A. from Rutgers University. He was a Certified Public Accountant. He worked at a major international CPA firm as an Audit Director. For the remainder of his career, he was the Executive Director of a mid-size regional law firm.
He was the happiest when he was spending time with his family especially when they were all at their cottage in Cape Cod. He coached his children’s baseball teams for many years. He served as a member of the Finance Committee at Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church.

In addition to Carol, his wife of 42 years, he leaves his son, Nicholas Rago and his wife, Amanda of Portland and their children, Nicholas and Phoebe, his daughter Melissa Rago and her fiancé, Ryan Mankus of Wethersfield, and his son, Timothy Rago and his wife, Michelle and their children, Delilah and Norah of Willington. He also leaves his four sisters and two brothers: Mary Ellen Smoragiewicz, Joan Rago, William (Kathy) Rago, Anne (Louis) Presutti, Robert Rago, and Brenda (Randy) Slayton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Christopher Michael Rago with whom he is now reunited with in Heaven.

Friends may call on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at The Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, 511 Maple Street Wethersfield. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict, 1 Cottage Grove Road Bloomfield.
