Obituary for Michael "Mike" Plouffe

Michael “Mike” Plouffe, beloved Husband and Father, passed away on December 31, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in 1939, the son of Louis Plouffe and Catherine (Curtin) Plouffe, Mike grew up in the Parkville neighborhood of Hartford. He attended Our Lady of Sorrows School and Hartford High School before graduating from UCONN. After retiring from Aetna, Mike and Lucille enjoyed travelling. Among their favorite places were France and Italy. He later became involved in volunteering for the AARP tax preparation program where for over 17 years he helped hundreds of people prepare and file their annual income tax statements. He was also a lifelong sports fan, never failing to miss a ‘Major’ or big game. But most important and enjoyable to Mike was spending time with his family. He would never decline an invite, was always available to talk, and always had a smile for anyone that visited. He was known as Mike to many, Pop to some, and he will be missed by all.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife Lucille (D’Onofrio). They met at Hartford High and were happily married for over 60 years. Mike is survived by his sons Michael of Mansfield, Brian and his wife Janet and granddaughter Anna Flynn of West Hartford, and Roman Grysiak and his wife Paula of Wethersfield. Mike is also survived by his sister Mary and husband Roger Riley of Glastonbury and was predeceased by his sister Connie Davis of Simsbury.

Friends may call on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. in Wethersfield. A memorial service will be held immediately afterwards. Memorial donations can be made to the Connecticut Humane Society. To extend condolences, please visit Farleysullivan.com.
