Obituary for Michael Begley
Michael “Mike” Patrick Begley, age 84, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 26, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Maureen (Concannon) Begley. Devoted father and grandfather, Michael is survived by his loving daughters Maureen and her husband Jamie, and Debbie and her husband Peter; and his cherished grandchildren, Maeve, Eli, Delaney, Fiona, Catherine, and Molly. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Hanna Mae Begley, his brother-in-law Colman Conneely, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
Born in Graffies, Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland, he was the son of the late Mary (Kearney) Begley and Sean Begley. Mike was predeceased by his sisters Cathy Begley and Eileen Begley Conneely and his brother Paud Begley.
Mike immigrated to the United States in 1959, and settled in Hartford, CT. Later he moved with his wife and daughters to Wethersfield, CT where he resided for 40 years.
He was also proud of his 32 years of working for the City of Hartford and was a lifetime member of the Irish American Home Society. As well as a member of the Church of the Incarnation.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and taking his daily evening walks around the neighborhood. Mike was always happy to be with family and friends, and ready with a joke and a smile. He loved watching Gaelic Football and cheering on his favorite football team Kerry. Above all else he cherished his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield, CT. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Marsh Street, Old Wethersfield, CT.
