Mary (Jurewicz) Marek Hartz, 94, of Auburndale Fl., formerly of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 in the Highland Lake Center of Lakeland, FL. She was born in Hartford on March 3, 1929 , daughter of the late Kazimierz and Anastasia (Kukulka) Jurewicz. She was a graduate of Bulkeley High School. and worked in the Accounts Payable Dept. of Hartford Hospital. She was a very active member of the Ladies Guild of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, the Polish Cultural Club of Greater Hartford and the Polish National Home of Hartford. Mary enjoyed traveling across the USA and Europe and spending time at her condominium in Charlestown Beach, Rhode Island.
Mary leaves her daughter Christine Waszynski and her husband Henry, her son Steven Marek and his wife Colleen, and her sister Jean Galasyn.all of FL, as well as her grandsons Kenneth, Timothy and Randall Waszynski. She was predeceased by her husbands, Edward J. Marek, to whom she was married 43 years and Rudy J. Hartz, her husband of 23 years.
Friends may call on Tuesday August 15, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary’s life will be held Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 10:00am in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 43 Popielczusko Court, Hartford.
