Obituary for Mary Davoren (Faherty)

Mary (Faherty) Davoren, 89, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Joseph Davoren, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on the island of Inis Meain, Aran Islands, County Galway, Ireland, daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Faherty) Faherty. Mary came to Boston in 1948, where she met her husband, Joe. They later married in Boston then moved to Hartford, where they settled to raise their family. Mary was a homemaker, who also worked in the family business, Davoren and Conneely Construction. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Mary was a communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield and a lifelong member of the Irish American Home Society.
She leaves her daughter, Mary Davoren Taylor and her husband Stan, of VA.; three sons, James Davoren and his wife Mary, of Wethersfield, John Davoren and his wife Kim, of South Windsor, Michael Davoren and his wife Sabina, of Wethersfield; daughter-in-law, Gina Davoren, wife of Mary’s deceased son, Brendan. Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Megan, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Anne, Joseph, Nicole, Bridget, Everett, Nino, Kevin, and Lindsey; as well as her sisters, Bridget Conneely, Sibel Joyce, Barbara Glennon, Ann Folan and Theresa Dirrane; her brother Martin Faherty; her cousin, who was like a sister, Maureen Folan; in addition, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Mary was predeceased by her sons Joseph and Brendan; her siblings Patrick, Maureen, Agnes, Cait, Nora, Padraic and Sister Theresa Peiga.
Friends may call on the family Friday, February 7, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mary’s life will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:15 am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Attendees are requested to go directly to church. Burial will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield.
