Maria E. Figueroa, 75, of Vernon, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021, in Hartford Hospital. She was born to the late Aureliano and Maria Luisa (Ramos) Figueroa, in Las Marias, Puerto Rico. Maria was a selfless person who loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aside from her family, her daily activities included, tending to her many plants and watching Novelas. A devout Catholic, Maria was a faithful communicant of Saint Peter’s Church in Hartford for many years. Maria was known for many things, including her subtle sarcasm, strong opinions but especially her sewing skills, she didn’t even need a pattern to go off of to create beautiful designs.
Maria will be missed by her two daughters, Rosy Cruz and Liz Cruz, her grandchildren: Kammren Roberts, Crystal Cortes, Oscar Cortes, Jr., Noel Cortes, Rosalie Cortes, Taeler Cruz and Chardonai Turner, her great-grandchildren; Jaeda Pagan, Bryanna Oliveri, Aliyah Oliveri, Jacob Colon, Nathaniel Cortes, Savannah Cortes, Carlos Santos and Mateo Santos. She is also survived by her special niece Carmen Ruperto-Cruz, her nephews and nieces, cousins and her other extended family.
Friends and family may call upon the family from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT. A private service will be held on Friday, March 26 at 10am, burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, Section 32 at 11:30AM.
