Margaret Teresa (Egan) Rooney, 94, passed away on June 30, 2021 at her home in Glastonbury, CT. Born in Stamford, CT on January 25, 1927, she moved to Hartford, CT when she was young. She lived for a time in New York City where she met her future husband, Peter J. Rooney. They married on September 22, 1951. They had five children while living in New Haven, CT before moving the family to Ireland in 1964. Her husband Peter passed away unexpectedly in 1968, and Margaret remained in Ireland until 1975, when she and her children returned to Hartford. She worked for the City of Hartford for fifteen years, during which time she earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. She retired in 1991 and moved to Glastonbury in 1999, where she spent many years enjoying gardening in her yard. She was predeceased by her husband Peter J. Rooney and her oldest son J. Stephen Rooney. She is survived by her daughter Bawneen (husband David Banks), sons Michael, Peter, and Daniel (wife Christine Rooney), daughter-in-law Bernadette and eight grandchildren. Farley-Sullivan Funeral Homes in Glastonbury handled the final arrangements, and a memorial will be held for the family at a later date.
