Margaret E. “Madge” Reidy, 81, wife of Patrick Reidy of Cromwell, passed away December 14, 2020, in Hartford Hospital. Mom was born and raised in Ballinamore, County Leitrim, Ireland on November 2, 1939. Madge came to the United States in 1960 in New York; Mom met Daa, husband Patrick, shortly after on a blind date in NYC. They settled in Hartford, where Mom was very active in politics in the Hartford Democratic Party. Madge was also involved with the Saint Augustine Girls Brigade and the McGinley-Crafa Little League. Mom was always at her children's sporting events, whether they were playing or coaching. Mom enjoyed watching the UConn Women’s Basketball team and was a longtime member of the Irish American Home Society.
Besides her husband, Mom leaves her son, Kevin Reidy of Cromwell, his daughters; grand-daughter Allison and her wife Stephanie of Middletown; grand-daughters Michelle & Fiona of Cromwell. Son, Patrick Reidy of Cromwell; with grand-daughter Caroline of Massachusetts. Son, Michael Reidy, his wife Maureen, and grand-daughter Michaela of West Hartford. Son-in-law Todd Zielinski and her grandson Ronan and grand-daughter Teagan of North Carolina. Mom was predeceased by her daughter, Bernadette (Reidy) Zielinski.
(Mom) Madge will also be missed greatly by her brother Frank McCabe and niece and nephews of Ireland, her sister Cathleen Taylor and niece and nephews of NC. Mom was also predeceased by her youngest sister, Rosie Lally, of North Carolina.
Mom will be missed, but most of all, be remembered by our clan of numerous brothers & sisters-in-law and their families in Ireland and England. No matter what was going on in the world of our family; Mom was Always There.
