Obituary for Margaret Mary Doherty

Margaret Mary Doherty, known to family and friends as Meg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022 to join her beloved husband Donald Doherty in Heaven. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late former Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, John J. Tynan and Winifred (Hurley) Tynan. She was one of seven sisters. Margaret Mary attended Middletown Schools and graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in Brookline, MA. Margaret Mary was a communicant of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington.
Her greatest legacy will always be her love and devotion to her family. Margaret Mary leaves to treasure her memory, three loving and devoted children: Joanie (Dave) Darling of Killingworth, Maura (DJ) Thompson of Higganum and John (Carrie) Doherty of Long Meadow, MA. She cherished and adored her nine beautiful grandchildren: Clare Mack (Jon), Kathleen Darling, Donny and Danny Thompson, Emily, Jack, Lilah, Lux and Seraphina Doherty and two great granddaughters: Addison and Emery Mack. Margaret Mary is also survived by her sisters Alyce Bogdan (the late Edward), Maureen Witherell, Patricia Speight (the late Jerome), and Joan Sullivan (the late James). Margaret Mary was predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Hurney (the late Robert) and Rita Hassett (the late Richard). She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Her love of shopping, glitz, glamor and grace will be forever remembered by her loving family.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Doherty Family on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Margaret Mary’s life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 10:00AM in Holy Spirit Church of the Annunciation Parish, 183 Church St, Newington, CT 06111. Interment will follow in the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 1 Bow Lane, Middletown. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the John and Winifred Tynan Scholarship Fund, Mercy High School, 1740 Randolph Rd, Middletown, CT 06457.
