Obituary for Lea Buchanan (Cavalieri)

Lea (Cavalieri) Buchanan of Rocky Hill, 98, wife of the late, James W. Buchanan, died January 15, 2022, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in Hartford, CT on February 28, 1923 to the late Paul and Pauline Cavalieri and lived in the area her whole life. She was a woman of great faith and love for her family. She graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford in 1946 and loved to write, practice her faith, take photos and raise her children and grandchildren. She spent hours lovingly recording and organizing memories and highlights of the lives of her five children. She was a passionate swimmer and enjoyed spending time at Great Hammock Beach in Old Saybrook, CT. She was a participant of Saint James Church of St. Josephine Bahkita Parish, St. Augustine in Hartford and a member of the Third Order of the Carmelites. She often attended Mass daily and participated in the Rosary Society. She is survived by her children, Vivian Wotton, her husband Cleve, Laura Kearney, Diane Westbrook, her husband Kirk, Philip Buchanan, his wife Rochelle and her daughter-in-law Trish Buchanan. She was predeceased by her son, Paul S. Buchanan and her son-in-law, John F. Kearney, her sisters, Mary Lantieri, Francesca Cavalieri and Marguerita Rafala. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Lea's life will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00AM in Saint James Church of Saint Josephine Bahkita Parish, 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EWTN, Catholic Global Network, 5827 Old Leeds Rd.
