Laura Lucy (Paskov) Pickett, 101, of Cromwell, wife of the late James F. Pickett, passed away September 25, 2023 at Covenant Living of Cromwell. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Mate and Marsha (Ucic) Paskov on October 4, 1921. Along with her twin brother Leo, Laura was the first of her family born in the U.S. Laura was a graduate of Bulkeley High School and worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft during WW II. Laura married Jim in 1945 and they were married for 55 years until his passing in 2000. They raised their family in Hartford’s South End and Laura lived there most of her life before moving to Covenant Living 20 years ago. Laura loved painting, choir, swimming and gardening. She was passionately loved by her family who will miss her keen sense of wit and humor that she kept into her 100’s.
Laura will be greatly missed by her children, Marjorie Pepe, Marsha (Al) Sherman and Judith (Herb) Moreland and James Pickett, as well as her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Laura will also be missed by her sisters-in-law, Gladys Paskov and Marion Paskov and her former daughter-in-law, Erin Pickett. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Marijan (Irene), Leo (Ann) Kreso, Mike, Mary (Leo), her baby sister, Milka and her son-in-law, Nick Pepe.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home at 12:00 noon. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave, Hartford.
