Obituary for Julia Krawiec (Solak)

Julia (Solak) Krawiec, 94, of Glastonbury, wife to the late Henry “Jinx” Krawiec, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with her family by her side. Julia was born on December 10, 1929 to the late Piotr and Mary Solak in Hartford. Julia moved to Glastonbury in 1952 and returned to work at the Phoenix Mutual both downtown and in Enfield. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in the Glastonbury Senior Center. Julia was extremely proud of her Polish heritage; she loved Polka dancing and Polish tradition. She made and shared her pierogi every Christmas Eve when she and Jinx opened their home to family and friends to celebrate and share Polish traditions…as the family expanded, so did the party! Above all, Julia loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and most recently, great-grandmother with the joyful arrival of Maxton Christopher Mercer.

Julia leaves her daughters, Judith Krawiec of Newport Beach, CA, Susan Mancini of Glastonbury, Karen (Phil) Hancock of South Windsor and Joanne Mercer and Carlos Costa of Fairhaven, MA. Her grandchildren, Adam Mercer and fiancée Kalie Chapman, Justin Mercer, Kelsey Mercer and JP Klages, Andrew Hancock and fiancée Emily Paliulis, Julianne Hancock and Vincent Gritzuk, and her most recent JOY, her great-grandson, Maxton Christopher Mercer. As well as her husband of 55 years, Julia is predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Peter (Helen) Solak, John (Ellen) Solak, Frank (Minna) Solak, Emelia (Josef) Kuszaj, Joseph Solak and by her son-in-law, Thomas Mancini.
