Obituary for Joanne Mary Visco

Joanne Visco of Wethersfield, CT passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021. Joanne was born in Hartford, CT on January 20, 1954 and was the loving and only child of the late Michael and Genevieve Visco. Joanne was raised in Hartford and Wethersfield, CT where she graduated from South Catholic High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Connecticut State University. Upon graduation Joanne pursued a long banking career starting with the former State Bank for Savings. She continued on in Retail Banking for Peoples United Bank for over 35 years. During that time, she was a Branch Manager in several cities and towns throughout Hartford County including: New Britain, Hartford, Newington and East Hartford. She retired in 2019 as a Vice President, remembering her long career fondly. Joanne was always an advocate for her customers and enjoyed being a mentor to her employees. Joanne was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield, CT. Joanne lived life fully and had a passion for trips to NYC to see her favorite Broadway shows, fine dining, summer day trips to the beach and her vacations, especially visits to Aruba. She vacationed there several times. Over the last few years, Joanne fell in love with Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, visiting it as often as she could. Joanne loved to cook and created dishes that were extremely special for her and her friends. Her Christmas pizzelles and cookies were the delight to those privileged to receive them.
Joanne is survived by her cousins Joanne Mitchell and her husband Andrew of Bloomfield, William Konesni and his wife Judith from Pomfret, John Kone and wife Connie from Marietta, GA, Godson Paul Dudack of Baltimore, MD and her Goddaughter Vanessa Rios, husband Dr. Clifford Rios from Farmington and their three children Alexia, Jagger and Roman who she was affectionately known as their “Cioci”. She thoroughly enjoyed her sleepovers with Alexia. She often spoke of the great times they had carving pumpkins and perfecting her arts and crafts skills. She enjoyed watching Jagger and Roman, learning to skate and play hockey at the same time. It brought great laughter and joy to her. In this last year she assisted Alexia with remote learning, putting her Elementary Education skills to good use. Joanne loved her family and her many, many friends and they loved her back. She was blessed to have several lifelong friends.
Though our hearts are saddened with the loss of her presence, we are all enriched with precious memories and knowing that our eternal friend is at peace and safely at home.
