Obituary for Jeffrey Lawrence "Jeff" McPhee

Jeffrey L. McPhee, 63, of Wethersfield passed away peacefully March 13, 2024 at Saint Francis Hospital surrounded by close family and friends. Jeffrey was born on May 7, 1960, the son of the late Chester and Jane McPhee of Newington, CT. He married his high school sweetheart, Joanne, who he has known since they were in elementary school. They moved to Wethersfield and had two children and built their lives there together. Jeff was a hard working man who was an accountant for many years and then worked for 28 years at UPS and for many years in the Wethersfield Public Schools. He was a volunteer fireman for Co.1 in Wethersfield from 1999 until 2005. He was an avid golfer and member of Wethersfield Country Club where he worked part time after retirement. Jeff also loved people and having a good time, he was always there to help when needed. As a parent and sports lover, he was always the coach of the soccer or basketball team and ready to go on the tournament trips. He was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Rams and Ohio State Buckeyes. Of all the things he had done in his life, the thing he loved most was being a Grampa to his granddaughters. Jeff will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the stories they will share.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Jane McPhee as well as his brother Douglas McPhee. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Joanne McPhee of Wethersfield. He also leaves behind his son Jeremy McPhee of Rocky Hill and daughter Jennifer and her husband Jordan Coleman of Glastonbury with his granddaughters Juliette and Johanna. He cherished his family and friends dearly and especially his late mother in law Helen Niemczyk.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital and the office of Congestive Heart Failure for their wonderful care and support. The memorial service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT 06109. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
