Jane (Gravel) Reilly, 93, of Wethersfield, CT wife of Robert F. Reilly, passed away February 2, 2021 at home with her family at her side. Jane was joined by her husband three days later, when he passed away on February 5, 2021. She was born in Springfield, MA on June 19, 1927 to the late Charles and Mary (Faneuf) Gravel. Jane was raised in Feeding Hills, MA and later moved to Hartford, CT. Jane graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in Music. Jane was a classically trained musician and singer. She also taught piano and organ lessons. She was a longtime organist and Choir and Music Director at Saint James Church (Saint Josephine Bahkita Parish) of Rocky Hill and later at Saint Isaac Jogues Church (North American Martyrs Parish) of East Hartford. Jane was also a past president of the Connecticut chapter of the American Guild of Organists and a member of the Sacred Heart Church Women’s Guild. Jane was a kind, loving, and generous person. Jane was very creative and had an artistic flair. She made beautiful stained glass lamps and mirrors. Jane enjoyed creating one of a kind Christmas ornaments with supplies from Germany. She was full of pizzazz and style. She won the hearts of all she met. Everyone who knew Jane wished she could be their mother. Husband Robert and her sister-in-law Beverly Strout sang together in her choir while she was the resident church organist. Jane could always count on them to support her musical efforts.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, James F. Reilly and his wife Jennifer of Wethersfield, Charles Reilly of Wethersfield, Noreen Reilly of Wethersfield and Christine Reilly of Newington. Jane will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren PJ, Sophie, and Carolyn Reilly. She is predeceased by her sisters Charlotte Toelken and Mary Pollini. She also leaves behind sisters in-law Joan Compson, Mary Reilly, Eleanore Reilly, Mary Ellen Fortier and her brother in-law Roger Fortier.
