Obituary for James Frank Febeo

James Frank (Jim) Febeo, 85, of Rocky Hill, husband of Marlene (Cohen) Febeo, passed away November 12, 2022. He was born into a tight-knit Italian family in Hartford as the son of the late Eugene and Rose Marie (Giuliano) Febeo. Jim was a graduate of Bulkeley High School Class of 1956. In 1967, he married the love of his life, Marlene. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary.

He had a long and successful career in the textile and apparel industries, including at Merin Brothers, a coat company in Hartford where he was Owner, President and CEO. He also served as President of the New England Apparel Club (NEAC).

A devout Catholic, Jim was a life-long parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield. He worked hard and enjoyed life to its fullest. He had a special way of connecting with people, loved to socialize and be the life of the party. He enjoyed the swing era music of Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller and gave up playing the trumpet in his father’s band so he could spend more time on the dance floor. He enjoyed winters in Florida and playing golf. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Jim and his dog, Sparky, spent many years volunteering at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain where Jim received wonderful care following a stroke in 2002. He also volunteered for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of CT.

Besides his wife, Jim will be greatly missed by his son, James Febeo, Jr., daughter-in-law Jennifer, and granddaughter Lila, his daughter, Karen Febeo, and grandson Jacob, all of Boston, very close sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie & Phil Hale and Alan Cohen, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Scalzo (Joe), sister-in-law, Terry Cohen, and special cousin, Sally Pandisher (Joe).

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Jefferson House for their compassionate care of Jim over the past year.
