Obituary for Gail Obedzinski (Lewis)

Gail Helen (Lewis) Obedzinski, wife of David L. Obedzinski of Wethersfield, passed away on December 2 at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer.
Born in Hartford, CT to the late John Lewis and Barbara (Sugermeyer) Lewis, she graduated from Bulkeley High School, where she made many lifelong friends.
A graduate of the St. Agnes School of Nursing, she spent several years caring for newborns in the St. Francis Hospital nursery while raising her five children. She later worked at Aetna and the National Marrow Donor Program before retiring.
Gail was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her sewing and decorating skills, her wonderful laugh, and her ability to bring the whole family together. Her warm hospitality was appreciated by neighbors in each place she lived: Forster Heights (Hartford), Glastonbury, and Wethersfield. Over the years she volunteered in the thrift store for the House of Bread and served as a Eucharistic minister at the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield.
She is survived by her husband, David, and their children: David J. Obedzinski and his wife, Linda Obedzinski, of Glastonbury; Paul Obedzinski and his partner, Tamar Kummel, of New York, NY; Jason Obedzinski and his wife, Aimi Prescott, of Arlington, MA; Ryan Obedzinski and his wife, Carrie Obedzinski, of Glastonbury; and Jill Foley and her husband, Rider Foley, of Charlottesville, Virginia. She will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Kate Obedzinski, Jack Prescott, Kyle Obedzinski, Monica Obedzinski, Claire Obedzinski, Ronan Obedzinski, and Miles Prescott. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Lewis, and is survived by her sister BJ Lewis of Warrenton, Virginia.
The family will receive visitors at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road in Wethersfield on Tuesday, December 7, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society or The House of Bread in Hartford. To leave condolences, or for more information, please visit Farleysullivan.com
