Obituary for Frederick Shores

Frederick R. Shores, 86, of East Hampton passed away peacefully with his wife, Pam, by his side on March 2 at home. Born in Bristol on May 25, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Velda Shores. After high school, Fred served in the US Marine Corps before attending University of Hartford to earn his Bachelors Degree. Fred enjoyed a successful career in the insurance and financial services industry. He cared for his clients as honorably as he served his country. Fred’s first job was at a gas station in Forestville during high school where his love of cars began, later owning everything from a VW Beetle to an Austin-Healey.
Fred was a proud member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford and the Shriners and a 50 year member of Hospitality Lodge #128 AFAM. Fred was affiliated with Anchor Lodge and served the Lodge with honor and distinction for many years.

Though Fred went above and beyond in his work life, his devotion to his family was utmost. Besides his wife, Pamela, Fred leaves his daughter Amy (Shores) Lombardo and her husband, Peter; son, Austin Shores and his wife, Kristin, step-son, Greg Pusz and his wife, Stacey; three grandchildren, Austin Joseph Shores, Dale Jackson Pusz and Tatum Marie Pusz and his sister-in-law, Theresa Shores and her son Paul and his wife, Karla. Fred is also survived by nephews David Eckstrom, Paul Eckstrom, John Eckstrom and his wife, Judy and niece, Nancy Swider, and her husband, David, and several great nieces and nephews. Fred enthusiastically embraced Pam’s family, brother George and his wife, Kathy; sisters Ann, Peggy, Bunny and her husband, Steve, Joanne and her husband, Donny and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Eckstrom and brother-in-law, Roy, his brother, John Shores and Pam’s sister, Karen.

Fred continued strong bonds with his fraternity brothers Bob, Mike, Paul, Frank, Bob, Jack and Bob, as well as devoted friends, Mike and Roger.
Fred’s family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, March 6 from 2:00 - 4:00 at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. The funeral service will be at the Wethersfield United Methodist Church, 150 Prospect Street at 8:45 Monday morning, March 7. Please go directly to the Church. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
