Obituary for Etta E. "Libby" Osborne (Osborne)

Etta Elizabeth (Libby) Osborne, 89, beloved wife of the late Carl Osborne, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2021. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Auburn and Alpha Osborne on July 19, 1931, in Dungannon, VA. Determined, dedicated, and with a strong work ethic, Libby worked many jobs throughout her life, she owned a Tasty-Freeze franchise with her husband, modeled at the Ewing Agency, worked at Veeder-Root, where she showed her athletic skills as a member of the women’s “gal’s nine” softball team, restaurant work at “Mae’s Barbeque Haven” with her mother-in-law was the owner and as recreation director at The Holiday Retirement Community.
Libby was an animal lover, whether it was the family dog, numerous cats, or the neighborhood birds and squirrels, she was always there feeding them. She was a traveler, visiting England, Scotland, and many Asian countries. She enjoyed her shopping trips and collectables, whether it be paintings and trinkets from her trips or the stop by a local tag sale, Libby was always ready for a day of browsing.
Etta will be dearly missed by her children, Carol Osborne, of Glastonbury, Lance Osborne, of Glastonbury, and Bryan Osborne and his wife, Jennifer, of Georgia. She will also be missed by a special niece, Phyllis Osborne, of Kingsport, Tennessee. Etta is predeceased by her siblings James, Jesse, Blanche, and Mary.
We would like to offer a special thank-you and gratitude to the entire staff at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation for their care, compassion, and professionalism while looking after Libby in her final weeks.
Services will be private. The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Glastonbury, has the care of the arrangements. For further information, or to leave a condolence, please visit FarleySullivan.com.
