Obituary for Ethel DeMichele (Davies)

Ethel (Davies) DeMichele, 96, wife of the late Anthony DeMichele, of West Hartford, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at home, with her family at her side. She was born in Jamaica Plains, NY, daughter of the late William and Elva (O’Brien) Davies and moved to the Hartford area at a young age and lived here most of her life. Ethel was a member of the Rosary Society, the St. Patrick-St. Anthony Ladies Guild, of which at one time she was the oldest active member, a past Secretary of the St. Augustine Ladies Guild, and was an active member of the very strong community of the Court of St. James in West Hartford, where she resided. She touched the lives of many people during her life. Everyone got a card or message for their birthdays and anniversaries. Ethel leaves 5 sons, Victor DeMichele and his wife Hermine of Ludlow MA, Thomas DeMichele and his wife Pat of West Hartford, Patrick DeMichele of Hamden, William DeMichele and his wife Betty of Windsor Locks and Anthony DeMichele and his wife Diane of FL, 2 daughters, Maria Connors and her companion Pete Iavecchia of East Hartford and Catherine Nero of Springfield, MA, a daughter-in-law, Stasia DeMichele of Higganum, and a sister-in-law Esther Davies of South Windsor. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Anthony, she was predeceased by two sons, Joseph DeMichele and Leonard DeMichele, a brother Robert Davies and a sister Ruth Morrell and her husband Wendell. Ethel’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Hebrew Home Hospice and Hartford Healthcare at Home for their care.
Friends may pay their respects to the DeMichele family on Thursday August 6, 2015 from 5-7 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ethel’s life will be held Friday August 7, 2015 at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave. Hartford, CT 06114. All attendees are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT. 06114. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Augustine School, 20 Clifford St., Hartford, CT 06114.
