Eileen Bridget (Malone) Sott, 94, wife of the late Alexander Sott, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Rineen, County Clare, Ireland, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Curtin) Malone. Prior to her retirement, Eileen was a Personal Banker for the Bank of America. Her Irish roots were in the forefront on how she lived each day. Enjoying music, dance and of course her faith. She was a Life Member of the Irish American Home Society and was a volunteer for many of those years. Eileen was involved in many aspects of the Irish American Home, such as, being one of the founding members of the Hartford Feis, Wednesday night Ceili dancing and loved attending seisúns on Sunday. She received the great honor of being Grand Marshal of the 2016 Hartford Saint Patrick Day Parade. Eileen was also an Assistant Finance Director for the IAHS Club and served on the Finance Board of Saint Christopher Church of East Hartford. She served people her entire life, was “selfless in working and kind in tongue.”
Eileen leaves her daughters, Clare Doyle and her husband Christopher, Maureen Skowronek and her husband Edward and Eileen Waller and her husband David, six grandchildren, Seamus, Desmond, Justin, Kate, Siobhan and Michael and nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Maggie, Anna, Tiernan, Lucy, Adeline, Scarlet, Kinley and Rory. She will also be greatly missed by her sisters, Sr. Mary Kate Malone, Theresa Kearns and Peggy Noonan, her Nephew, who came to live with her when he was 18 years old, John Malone, his wife Suzanne, their children Aiden and Elizabeth and their grandson Owen, many special nieces and nephews in the United States, Ireland and England, her close friends Bev and Pat. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved daughter Nancy Gilberto and her siblings Patrick Malone, Thomas Malone, John Malone, Bridget Mayo and Susan Lempa.
A private Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, CT. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, 162 Roberts Street East Hartford. There will be no calling hours. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Masonic Hospice for the wonderful care they showed Eileen. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eileen’s name may be made the Irish American Home Society, 132 Commerce St, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
