Obituary for Edward M Fennelly

Edward M. Fennelly, 66, of Colchester passed away peacefully November 17, 2023 after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 21, 1956 in Hartford, CT to Edward and Barbara Fennelly. He grew up in East Hartford and graduated from George J. Penney High School in 1974 and studied at the University of Hartford. Edward worked a number of years for Hess Exxon and in 1993 joined Foxwoods Casino, working in the cage and SSE Count room for almost 30 years. He had just retired in June of this year.
Edward is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Barbara Fennelly. He is survived by his brother Ken, sister Sue-Ann as well as her husband Frank Lapinski; his many cousins in the Moriarty, Fennelly and Fraser families. Edward remained friends with his previous husband, Gary Levesque and always appreciated the love from Gary’s family. He will be missed by many, including Shirley Stager, whom he managed to laugh about nothing together, Donna Bartels (Darla) the most beautiful, kindhearted person he ever knew, Tim Schofield, Lisa Marie Bartok, Jill Woodward, Greg Lawton and Tank Samuels, to name a few.
Ed was a proud member of the gay community. His loves included The Wizard of Oz, 1776, and Wicked, his music, including ABBA and the B-52’s and decorating for the holidays. Lastly Ed would never forgive us if we didn’t mention his life long love for the UConn Women’s Basketball team and mostly his Red Sox. He will truly be missed.
You are my brother not by choice
But by the nature of our birth.
I could not have chosen a better one
You were the best on Earth.
