Obituary for Edward Mockus

Edward W. Mockus, 85, husband to the late Margaret (Hoadley) Mockus, of South Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Ed was born in Hartford on May 22, 1937 to the late Edward T. and Catherine (Clark) Mockus. Ed was all things Glastonbury, he was a lifelong resident, graduated from Glastonbury High School, was a member of the Glastonbury Fire Department – Company 2 and worked for the Town of Glastonbury’s Parks and Rec Department for many years. He was a proud United States Army Veteran and served our country honorably. Ed was a true sportsman, you could often find him, hunting, fishing, playing men’s league or co-ed softball, bowling or golfing, he loved any activity to keep himself busy. He was also known for his love of watching UCONN Women’s Basketball. You could often find Ed lending a hand to anyone in need, he was referred to affectionately as the “Corn Man” or “Apple Man” for his work on the local farms.

Ed will be missed by his children, Cynthia and Christopher Spada of South Glastonbury, Donald Harris and his companion Karen of Rocky Hill, Deborah Levesque and her husband Randall of Florida and Donna Karlson of East Hartford. His grandchildren, Darlene Margaret Williams, Robin Williams and Jennifer Karlson, a great-grandson, River Williams, his sister, Louise Neary and her husband Jim of South Windsor and a sister-in-law, Deborah Mockus. Ed also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Alan Mockus.

Friends and family may call upon the Mockus family on Saturday February 25, 2023 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave. Glastonbury.
