Obituary for Despina Koulouris (Kehiayias)

Despina Koulouris, 75, of East Hartford, passed away with her family by her side on June 22, 2023. Born to the late Tsambikos and Eirini (Hatzinikolas) Kehayias in Gennadi, Rhodes, Greece on August 9, 1947. She was predeceased by her cherished siblings Maritsa, Demetris, and Foula. Despina loved the outdoors and the nature that her homeland had to offer. Shortly after immigrating to the United States in 1966, she met and married Antonios Koulouris. They shared nearly 55 wonderful years together. Despina enjoyed a long and successful career as a hairdresser with Lady Capri Hair Salon in Newington. She was also a skilled baker and seamstress. Outside of work, she loved traveling, especially to the shoreline to fish with her husband, and being a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Her number one priority and source of happiness though, was her family. Especially her three grandchildren. She loved spending time with all of them and will be remembered lovingly as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Aside from her beloved husband Antonios, Despina leaves behind her two loving sons, Spiro and his wife Julia of Wethersfield, Harry and his wife Wendy of Lower Burrell, PA and her beloved daughter Irene of Oakland, CA. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Elliana, Spiro, and Kosta Koulouris, and her brother, Kostas Kehayias in Australia. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends whom she all adored.

Family and friends are welcome to call upon the Koulouris family on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Service being held at 5:30 p.m. in the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield.
