Obituary for Denise Archilla

Denise A. Archilla, 64, of Wethersfield, Connectucut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Home. She was born on June 27, 1955, in Hartford, Connecticut to Mari'a Lucille Stephens and Ralph Allen Thompson. She was a 1973 graduate of Glastonbury High School and after graduation became a court reporter before taking a position with Aetna Insurance company, where she worked for approximately 33 years before retiring with many accomplishments, but her greatest accomplishment was the day she dedicated her life and got baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 17, 1971, and she faithfully served Jehovah until her death. Denise's smile and laugh was infectious, when she laughed, you would laugh. One of her favorite pastimes was to enjoy a meal and laughter with family and friends, friends that she made effortlessly everywhere she went. Denise also had a beautiful singing voice, which she was never shy in letting be heard, her talents were so extraordinary, it landed her a spot singing with up with the people choir while in high school. She loved fashion and her keen sense of style was evident in the designs she had featured at the United Way fashion show. She also enjoyed interior design and painting, and was well known for displaying her own paintings on the walls at the company she worked. Denise attributed her many accomplishments and her successes to her positive attitude and faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Denise is survived by her three children: Barak J. Gartrell, Shonate T. Barclay, and Simeon T. Gartrell, 7 grandchildren: Phoenix F. Gartrell, Summaria A. Gartrell, Jaiden O. Gartrell, Jailen J. Gartrell, Olivia O. Gartrell, Amira C. Barclay, Gabriel A. Barclay, Mother: Mari'a Lucille Stephens, 9 siblings, many nieces, nephews, great aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. A private memorial service for Denise is schedule on Saturday, June 4th at 1:00 pm for family and close friends, they would like to thank you all for your prayers and support.
