David Alan Gregory, 56, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023 after a seven-year, courageous battle with Ocular Melanoma. David was born in Hartford on October 20, 1966 to Mary (Martyn) Gregory and the late Robert L. Gregory. David graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1984 and attended Central Connecticut State University. David followed in his father’s career into supermarket retail, achieving a 34-year tenure at Big Y. In younger years he enjoyed weekly movie outings with his father and sister, was active in community theater, and became an avid music lover. David treasured spending time with family and friends. He found his second family with Fun Time Friends, a group organized by friend Annie Cary, where newfound activities included hiking, concerts, and day trips.

David was a kind and gentle soul who loved to take in beautiful scenery, especially sunsets. He will be missed by his mother, Mary, her longtime companion Anthony G. Vetre, and his sister, Elaine Gregory, who was “his rock.” David will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Friends and family may gather at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a Catholic prayer service beginning at 10:00 am in the funeral home followed by burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street Rocky Hill.
