Cleasse Grogan Sullivan, age 90 of Wethersfield, CT, wife of the late Michael Francis Sullivan, Jr., passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Yvonne (Deslauriers) Grogan. She was a lifelong resident of Wethersfield and still lived in the home she grew up in. She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Sullivan of Locust Grove, VA; Martin and Pat Sullivan of Mineral, VA; Patricia Sullivan with whom she shared her home; and Meggan and James Evans of Stafford. She was an amazing grandmother to: Jeremiah, Joshua (Katie) and Matthew (Becky) Rudolph, Courtney (Jim) Janeski, Michael (Liz) and Patrick (Meaghan) Sullivan, and Brendan and Keren Evans and Kaleigh Evans and Zach Wurtz. She was additionally blessed with six great-grandchildren, Connor and Kyle Janeski, Eleanor Rudolph, Amelia Joy Sullivan, Easton Wurtz and Aubrey Evans. She is also survived by her brother Francis L. Grogan, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL and predeceased by her brother Donald Grogan. She will be missed by her Third Thursday Nursing Luncheon gals.
Cle graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1949 and continued on to St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1953. While in Nursing School, she spotted a young man across the way and she told her friend that she was going to marry “that guy”. In true fashion and being a woman of her word, she married him and built an amazing life together. She was a co-creator of St. Francis School of Nursing Newsletter, Vital Signs. Prior to her retirement, she worked at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford Hospital, Hebrew Home and Hospital and Jefferson House. Among her many talents, she loved gardening, flower arranging, cake decorating, interior design and most of all decorating for Christmas. Her home was the most spectacular sight to see and Christmas Eve was one of the family’s most treasured traditions. She loved to bake for all of her friends and family. Cle was an avid sports fan, including New England Patriots, and UCONN Women’s Basketball. As a grandma and nana, she was the most supportive and rarely missed any sporting event, theater event or any occasion she could support her grandchildren.
Cle made an impact on everyone she ever came into contact with. She was the most thoughtful human being, always placed others needs before her own and lived her life by example. Her family and friends witnessed her acts of kindness on a daily basis.
