Carmelo Mercado, 82, beloved husband to the late Maria Mercado, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022. Carmelo was born on July 16, 1939 to the late Marcos and Celestina (Echevarria) Mercado in Añasco, Puerto Rico. Carmelo was known for his incredible work ethic which showed in his 20+ years of working at Hartford Hospital and previous to that he worked at Capewell for 25 years. His true passion was for his family, he would do anything for his family and his love for them was shown every day.
Carmelo leaves his daughter, Carmen Padua and her husband Sergio and his son Carmelo Mercado, Jr. and his wife Aida. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren which he adored with all his heart, Kayla, Alexis and Brandon and many nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and many more extended family.
Friends and family may call on the Mercado family on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Service celebrating Carmelo’s life will take place in the funeral home at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Ave. Hartford.
