Bruce Elliott Owen, 79, of Rocky Hill, loving husband to Marguerite (LaDisa) Owen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Bruce was born on January 17, 1945 to the late Lucille Owen and was raised by his grandparents, the late John and Mabel Owen. After high school, Bruce served honorably in for the United States Navy. Following his service, Bruce had a long career working for the Wethersfield Board of Education. He was incredibly handy and could fix anything and was able to figure anything out by trial and error, especially with cars and loved to work on them. Bruce was an incredible story teller and loved to share stories about his time in the service. He was an avid lover of trains, ships and also eagles. Bruce was known for his care of the Wethersfield High School Pool. It was known as “Bruce’s Pool.”
Besides his wife, he will be greatly missed by his son David Owen and his wife Jennifer of Manchester his daughter Denise Owen of Newington his grandsons, David Owen and his wife Shannon, Daniel Owen, Jason Owen and his wife Katelyn and Jacob Owen as well as his great-grandchildren Adeline, Aleia, Bennet and Isaac, his sisters Sherry and Maureen and his beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and two special friends, Gene and Dolores. Bruce was predeceased by his brother and sister, Larry and Debbie.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday April 5, 2024 at 10:00 am in the Church of St. Andrew, 331 Orchard St., Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Main St. Rocky Hill.
