Bernard “Bernie” John Driscoll passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2022, just 5 days after losing his beloved wife of 72 years, Lorraine Driscoll.Bernie was born in Hartford, CT on March 16, 1929. He graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1947 and went on to work for the Southern New England Telephone Company. He married his high school sweetheart in 1950 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and they were happily married for over 70 years. Bernie and Lorraine grew up in Parkville, CT, but eventually settled in Wethersfield, CT where they raised their three children. Bernie remained a loyal employee at the telephone company for his entire career. In retirement, he spent his time researching the family’s genealogy, including tracing Lorraine’s family all the way back to the Mayflower. He was a member of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.
Bernie was a gregarious and charming man and would strike up a conversation with everyone he met. He had a playful sense of humor and always engaged in good natured banter with his loved ones. Bernie was a storyteller and loved to regale his family and friends with chronicles of the past (he may have been known to repeat a story or two). Bernie was a hard worker and a proficient handyman who could fix just about anything. He was humble and kind and didn’t have a mean bone in his body. His greatest joy in life was his family – his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. He would often tear up any time he spoke of his family, overwhelmed with love. He was a proud Irishman, Connecticuter, Patriots fan and Red Sox fan. Bernie will be remembered for his warm nature and storytelling. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, “Pop,” and friend. He was a light in this world and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bernie was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Driscoll; his parents Joseph and Dorothy (Malone) Driscoll; daughter, Kathleen Sidabras; granddaughter, Christine Driscoll; sister, Grace Murphy; and brother, Joseph Driscoll. He is survived by his children, Nancy Driscoll (Tom Hudson) and William “Bill” (Jean) Driscoll; sister, Dorothy Lawless; and grandchildren, Sarah (Dustyn) Holt, Eileen (Erik) Smith, Tim (Katie) Driscoll, Sean (Janice) Adamowicz, Laura (Laki) Triantafylidis, Molly Adamowicz (Piotr Melon); and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Michael, Luke, Annie, Bailey, Leo, Brady, Max, and one “bun in the oven.”

Friends may call on February 4, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Bernie and Lorraine at 10:30 am in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield.
