Arthur Therrien, 84, husband to Lorraine (Martel) Therrien, longtime resident of Old Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023. Arthur was born to the late Arthur Joseph and Angelina (Rainville) Therrien on August 1,1938 in Springfield Massachusetts. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1958 and Butera School of Art in 1963. Following his school years, Arthur joined the Army National Guard for 7 years and was in the West Springfield 104th Infantry. Arthur was a man of great work ethic and incredible talent. He was a Technical Illustrator for over 30 years with Pratt and Whitney and was a part of the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird team. An avid outdoorsman, he was involved with his son’s Boy Scouts of America troop, served as an Indian Guides Leader, loved to fish and was a skilled camper who had many fond memories with his family in East Brewster, Cape Cod. Arthur was an exceptional golfer and won many awards and trophies for his talented play. A man of many talents, he was known for being a handyman who could use his technical knowledge to fix anything and passed down that knowledge to his children and grandchildren. Arthur especially enjoyed Sundays when he could support his favorite team the New York Giants.
Aside from his wife, Arthur will be missed by his children, David Therrien and his wife Karyn of Newington and Denise Tanis and her husband William of Oxford, his grandchildren, Jared, Noah, and Lara Therrien and Jack Tanis. He also leaves behind a brother, Richard Therrien and a sister, Jeanette Leveillee as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Friends and family may call upon the Therrien family on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Arthur’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:00am in Saint James Church of Saint Josephine Bahkita Parish, 767 Elm Street Rocky Hill. All attendees are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, 1 Marsh Street Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox P.O.
