Obituary for Amity Melissa Urgo

Amity Melissa Urgo, 46, of Newington, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and dear friend, passed away Monday morning, February 3, 2020. She was born April 25, 1973 in the Mojave Desert at Edwards Air Force Base, Edwards, CA, daughter to Shirley (Seling) Urgo and the late David J. Urgo. The family relocated to Connecticut when Amity was 3 months old. After moving several times, they settled in Glastonbury, where Amity graduated from Glastonbury High School.
Her mother named her Amity, a name befitting her friendly character. She was a kind and compassionate person, and her work life revolved around helping others. She was a popular waitress, upbeat and outgoing, before beginning a career caring for the disabled for many years in group homes, then as a personal companion for the elderly for Home Care Assistance in Newington. Amity loved her family, always ending her phone calls to her mother with “love you.” She was fond of flowers and butterflies and the color purple. In her personal dress, and in the gifts that she gave to people, she imbued small things with meaning, a way to express the beauty she found all around her.
Left to cherish Amity’s memory are her mother Shirley Urgo of Newington, her beloved son Timothy “T.J.” Hendron, TJ’s father Tim, both of Wethersfield, her brother Ian Urgo and his partner Connie Carmona, of Colchester, her paternal grandmother Elsie (Beaudette) Urgo; as well as her large extended family, including numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close and dear friends whose lives she touched. Amity was predeceased by her father, David Urgo, paternal grandfather Saverio “Sam” Urgo and her Aunt Patricia Hauserman.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Urgo family Friday, February 7, 2020 from 10 am to 12 pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A service of Remembrance will be celebrated at 12 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to (Ex.
