Obituary for Maria Paul (Rekas)

Maria Emilia (Rekas) Paul, 88, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Michal Paul, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family, Friday, November 1, 2019 at The Hospital of Central CT. Marysia was born July 3, 1931 and raised in Poland, daughter to the late Michal and Katarzyna (Goracy) Rekas. She and Michal began their family in Poland prior to emigrating to the United States in 1971. They resided in Hartford until 1986 at which time they moved to Glastonbury, where they have lived until the present time. Maria was a devout Catholic and faithful communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. She was employed at Hartford Hospital for over 20 years retiring in 1995.
Along with her husband Michal, Maria will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her two sons, Zbigniew Paul and his wife Lorianna, of FL, Christopher Paul of CT; a daughter Jolanta Gutowski and her husband Bodgan, of CT; four adored grandchildren, Hannah Paul, Michael Paul, Merrill Gutowski and Loren Gutowski; as well as extended family throughout the United States, Canada and Poland.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Paul family Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Maria’s life will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 10am in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford (Attendees are asked to go directly to the church). A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm in Cedar Grove Cemetery (Section M), 638 Broad St. New London. The family requests in lieu of flowers and that memorial donations be made to the American Stroke Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus, (Stroke Unit), 100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 06052.
