Obituary for Stephen J. "Steve" Wroniak

Stephen J. “Steve” Wroniak, 66, of Middletown, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, peacefully passed away at his home Monday, September 16, 2019. Steve was born, December 14, 1952 and raised in Hartford, one of three sons to the late Boleslaw and Marie (Schuster) Wroniak. He attended and graduated from Hartford Schools. Steve went on to become a dedicated and well-known Police Officer for many years, with the Hartford Police Department. After retiring from HPD, Steve was hired by the State of CT DMV as an inspector. He had many passions outside of his work life, to include cars, football & golf, collector of fine items of interest, movies & books, anything police related and most of all, he was an avid scuba diver, who made the dive to the German Uboat “U-853”, which was sunk 8 miles east of Block Island, RI during WWII. Most important to Steve was spending time with his family.
Steve will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, three sons, Michael Wroniak of Windham, David Wroniak (Katie) in Maine, Joseph Wroniak of Middletown; a daughter Alicia Wroniak of Torrington; a brother Thomas “Tom” Wroniak (Lisa) of Ellington; and four cherished grandchildren, Jayden Wroniak, Sydney & Wyatt Wroniak and Nathan Adamitskiy; as well as his companion Gwynne Skehan. In addition to his parents, Steve was predeceased by a brother Peter Wroniak.
Friends and family may pay their respects to Steve and his family Monday, September 23, 2019 from 5-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 7pm in the funeral home. Private burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
