Obituary for David Emile D'Arche

David Emile D’Arche, 94, of Newington, son of the late Emile and Margaret (Gunning) D’Arche, passed away August 8th after a short illness. David was predeceased by seven sisters. He was born and raised in the South end of Hartford, CT. David graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford, then went on to joined the US Marine Corp in 1942, serving in the Pacific in WWII as a Gunnery Sergeant with an honorable discharge. Prior to his deployment, David was attached to the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. He served in the Marine Aviation Separation Unit One MCAB in the Pacific from 1942-1946. In his 35 years in the restaurant business, he was the owner of the Black Swan Restaurant in Old Saybrook and the Corner Pub in Newington. David was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW post 9836 of Newington and the Newington Senior Center, acting in the capacity of a tax consultant and also assisted in teaching computer systems to the elderly. He was an avid golfer, playing locally and also on many premier golf courses in California, Arizona and Florida. David leaves a son and daughter-in-Law, David and Cindy D’Arche of Rio Vista, California, a daughter and son-in law, Dara and Tim Bennett of Newington, a stepson, Douglas Jeffery Brash of Burlington as well as two grandchildren, Benjamin Daggett and Kaitlyn Bennett, along with many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours Friday, August 16th, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield with a memorial service at 12pm in the funeral home. Burial service with full military honors will follow the service in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield, where David will rejoin his family.
