Savvas “Sam” Perdikakis, 69 of Rocky Hill, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away after a 5-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Hartford Hospital. Sam was born June 30, 1949 and raised in Siana, Greece. He was one of four children to the late Vasilios and Tsampika (Loulas) Perdikakis. Sam and the family emigrated to the United States in 1962 where they lived in Hartford. He attended Hartford Public schools, graduating from Bulkeley High School in 1970.
Prior to his retirement, Sam was a machinist for twenty years for the Gray & Prior Machine Co in Bloomfield. He was a communicant of St. George Greek Cathedral, Hartford, as well as member of the Hartford Hellenic Club. Sam enjoyed working on cars and would watch anything car-related on TV. He was an avid fan of soccer, rooting for both the US and Greek National teams. But above all, Sam loved his mother.
Sam will be deeply missed by his loving family, a brother, Steven Perdikakis; two sisters, Martha Androulidakis and Sylvia Diakomanolis; four nieces, Athena Androulidakis, Patty Androulidakis, Nectaria Diakomonolis, Lisa Perdikakis and two nephews, Steve Diakomanolis and William Perdikakis; in addition to nine great-nieces and nephews ranging in age from one month to 18 years.
Friends and relatives may call on the Perdikakis family at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5-8pm, with a Trisayon service at 6pm. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, May 7th at 11am in St. George Greek Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow the Liturgy in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Section 38), 453 Fairfield Ave., Hartford.
