Obituary for Katherine T. Drummond
Katherine "Kay" T. Drummond, died peacefully on May 1, 2019, in the caring and loving community at Salmon Brook Center in Glastonbury, CT. She was 99.
Kay was born in Hartford, CT on September 24, 1919 to her late parents, Michael and Ellen (Kelliher) Drummond, and lived there until she moved to Wethersfield, CT in 2003. She was a long-time communicant of the Church of the Incarnation. Before her retirement, Kay worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation and the Connecticut State Armory for many years. Kay was generous, kindhearted and strong-willed. She was a legendary bowler and bingo player, as well as a coupon-cutting deal-hunter. Kay’s greatest love, however, was going to the casinos, charitably donating to and, very occasionally, taking from the Mashantucket Pequot and the Mohegan tribes. Above all, Kay was a beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, and friend. Nothing made her happier than spending time with those she loved and who loved her. Kay will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but she will never be forgotten.
Kay is survived by her nephew, Brian Sheridan; her great-nieces and -nephews, Kevin Sheridan, Tracy Sheridan, Kara Garen, Kimberly Kelly, Jay Sheridan, Christine Sheridan, Laura Nadolski, Michael Sheridan, Matthew Sheridan, and Peter Sheridan; and great-great-nieces and -nephews, Tessa, Josie, Haley, Liam, Oliver, Lila, Georgia, Kate, Emma, Jack, Benjamin, Alexander, Leah, and Emma. She is predeceased by her brother, James Drummond; her sister, Mary Sheridan; her nephews Robert and Richard Sheridan; and her great-niece, Debra Olbrias.
Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road Wethersfield, CT. Kay’s funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield, CT. Interment will be in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the Wethersfield Senior Center, 30 Greenfield Street, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
